NUT (Número Único de Trámite)
The NUT, Número Único de Trámite (Unique Procedure Number), is the tracking number Mexico's National Migration Institute (INM) assigns to an immigration application once it is formally filed, used with a password to check the status of your case online.
How it works
Most INM procedures, such as a canje, renewal, or cambio de condición, begin with an online form. After you file at the INM office, you receive a receipt showing your NUT and a password.
Use both on the INM status-check page to see whether your case is in review, needs more documents, or is ready for fingerprints and card pickup. Check regularly: INM may request more information with a deadline, and missing it can end the case.
