How the CRS score works
Your score has four parts:

IRCC invites the highest-ranked candidates in each draw. General draws invite across programs; category-based draws in 2026 target French speakers, healthcare and social services, trades, STEM, education, physicians, researchers, senior managers, transport and military recruits. Ways to raise your score
- Retake your language test. Moving from CLB 9 to CLB 10 in all four abilities adds up to 12 points directly, and CLB 9 unlocks the top skill transferability points.
- Add French. NCLC 7 or higher in French adds 25 to 50 bonus points plus second-language points.
- Get Canadian work experience. One year in Canada adds 35 to 40 core points and can unlock transferability points.
- Get a provincial nomination. A nomination through Express Entry adds 600 points. See the Provincial Nominee Program.
- Complete a credential assessment for every degree you hold; two or more credentials score higher than one.
What changed recently
Job offer points (50 or 200) were removed for all candidates on March 25, 2025, so this calculator gives zero points for arranged employment. In 2026 IRCC also ran category-based draws with cutoffs well below general draws. Check the Express Entry draw tracker for the latest cutoffs.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good CRS score in 2026?
It depends on the draw type. General and Canadian Experience Class draws usually need higher scores than category draws. Compare your result with the recent cutoffs shown by the calculator and on the draw tracker.
Does a job offer still add CRS points?
No. Since March 25, 2025, arranged employment gives zero CRS points. A job offer can still help you qualify for some programs and provincial streams.
Is this my official score?
No. It is an estimate. Your official score is calculated in your Express Entry profile from the information and documents you provide.
How long are language test results valid?
Language test results must be less than two years old on the day you submit your Express Entry profile and on the day you apply for permanent residence.
