Our commitment
Our readers include people who use screen readers, magnification, voice control or a keyboard only, people on slow connections and small phones, and many who read English as a second language. We want every reader to be able to find and understand the information they need.
Our target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the current version of the international accessibility standard published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG is the standard that many accessibility laws and policies refer to.
What we have done
- Structure: each page has one main heading, ordered subheadings and a table of contents, so screen reader users can move around quickly.
- Keyboard access: a "Skip to content" link appears first when you press Tab, and a visible outline shows where you are.
- Language: each page tells your browser and screen reader which language it is in. Text is written in plain English at about a grade 8 level, and acronyms are spelled out the first time they appear.
- Color and display: text and background colors are chosen for strong contrast. The site follows your device's dark mode setting, and animation stops if your device asks for reduced motion.
- Resizing: the layout adapts to small screens and to browser zoom.
- Images and controls: logos and meaningful images have text alternatives, and our calculators use labeled fields and buttons.
- Tables: comparison tables use header rows so screen readers can announce them.
- No barriers: there are no accounts, no time limits, no CAPTCHAs and no auto-playing audio or video.
Known limits
We are a new site and are still testing, so some problems may remain. Areas we know need care:
- Interactive tools: calculators and data tables, such as long draw histories, can be harder to use on small screens and with some assistive technology.
- External documents: many official forms and guides we link to are PDFs on government websites. We cannot control how accessible they are.
- Translations: Spanish and French versions of the site are being added. Pages that are not yet translated appear in English.
If any of these affects you, tell us and we will help you get the information another way, such as a plain-text summary by email.
How to report a problem
Email contact@northamericans.com with the subject line Accessibility. It helps if you include:
- The link to the page
- What you were trying to do and what happened
- Your device, browser and any assistive technology you use (for example, a screen reader and its version)
We treat accessibility reports as bugs. We will reply, work on a fix, and where possible send you the information you need in the meantime.
Updates to this statement
We will update this statement as we test further and fix issues. It was last reviewed on September 22, 2026. For how we handle personal information in the messages you send us, see our privacy policy.
