RFE (Request for Evidence)
An RFE, or Request for Evidence, is a notice from USCIS saying it needs more documents or information before it can decide your application or petition. It is not a denial.
How to respond
The RFE lists exactly what is missing and gives a response deadline, printed on the notice. Send everything in one package, with the RFE cover page on top, before the deadline. USCIS generally does not extend RFE deadlines.
Common RFE topics include proof of a real marriage, the employer's ability to pay, specialty occupation evidence for H-1B, and missing medical exams. If you do not answer, USCIS decides the case on the evidence it already has, which usually means a denial.
