DS-160 (Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application)
The DS-160 is the US State Department's Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application. Anyone applying for a temporary US visa, such as a B-1/B-2, F-1, J-1, or H-1B, fills it out before the interview at a US embassy or consulate.
How it works
You complete the DS-160 online through the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC), upload a photo, and get a confirmation page with a barcode. Then you pay the visa application fee and book an interview, bringing the confirmation page.
The form asks about travel plans, family, work, education, past US travel, and security questions. Answer truthfully and match your other documents; mistakes can lead to delays or a misrepresentation finding.
