Super Visa (Parent and Grandparent Super Visa)
The Super Visa is a Canadian visitor visa for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents. It allows stays of up to 5 years at a time, compared with the usual 6 months for visitors.
Main requirements
- The child or grandchild in Canada invites you in writing and meets a minimum income (based on the low income cut-off plus 30%).
- Private medical insurance from a Canadian company, or an approved foreign insurer, with at least CAD $100,000 of coverage for at least one year.
- An immigration medical exam.
- You meet normal visitor rules and are admissible.
The visa can be valid for up to 10 years with multiple entries. It does not allow work and is not permanent residence.
