Proof of Funds for Canada Express Entry
Federal Skilled Worker and Federal Skilled Trades applicants must show enough money to settle in Canada, unless they are authorized to work in Canada and have a valid job offer. The amount depends on family size: CAD 15,263 for one person under IRCC's table updated July 7, 2025.

Who needs proof of funds
- Needed: Federal Skilled Worker and Federal Skilled Trades applicants.
- Not needed: Canadian Experience Class applicants, and anyone authorized to work in Canada with a valid job offer.
Count your spouse or partner and dependent children, even if they are not coming with you. Funds must be available and unencumbered: you can't borrow them. See the full proof of funds guide.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use property as proof of funds?
No. Equity in real estate doesn't count. Funds must be in cash or easily converted assets you can show with official bank letters.
Can my spouse's money count?
Yes, money in a joint account or in your spouse's name can count if your spouse is coming with you and you can show access to it.
