NWT Business StreamThe Business Stream of the Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) is for foreign nationals who want to start, buy, or invest in and run a business in the NWT. You need a minimum equity investment of $200,000 in Yellowknife or $100,000 elsewhere, a personal net worth of $500,000 or $250,000, and English or French at CLB 4 or higher. After a two-year Business Performance Agreement, you can be nominated for permanent residence.NWT Entry Level/Semi-SkilledThe Entry Level/Semi-Skilled Occupations category of the Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) lets an NWT employer nominate a foreign worker in a TEER 4 or 5 job for permanent residence. You must already have worked full-time in the same position for that employer for 12 months, hold a valid work permit, and meet a minimum language level. Since March 2026, candidates are chosen through scored Expression of Interest draws.NWT Express EntryNWT Express Entry is the Northwest Territories Nominee Program category for skilled workers who are already in the federal Express Entry pool and have a job offer from an NWT employer. A nomination adds 600 points to your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which almost always leads to an invitation to apply for permanent residence. Since March 2026, candidates are chosen through scored Expression of Interest draws.NWT Francophone StreamThe Francophone Stream of the Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) nominates qualified foreign workers who speak both French and English and have a valid job offer from an NWT employer. It accepts jobs at every NOC TEER level, from 0 to 5. Unlike the Employer-Driven Stream, it does not use Expression of Interest draws: applications are assessed first-come, first-served while nominations remain.NWT Skilled WorkerThe Skilled Worker category of the Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) lets an NWT employer nominate a foreign worker for permanent residence in a skilled job (NOC TEER 0 to 3) when no Canadian or permanent resident is available. You need a job offer from an NWT employer, one year of full-time experience in the same or a similar job within the last 10 years, a valid work permit, and a minimum language result. Since March 2026, candidates are picked through scored Expression of Interest draws.
